Bright Light File Export
Bright Light File Export is a software application that helps private schools in Florida to send their transcript information electronically to FASTER. The program will send to FASTER transcript information taken from the school database using SQL or spreadsheets. The information can include courses, grades, demographics information, GPAs and community services hours. It is very useful for sending batches of transcripts to entities that use FASTER such as Bright Futures.
How Bright Light File Export access your school data
Bright Light File Export can be configured to access the school data in either of two ways:
- by using SQL
- through spreadsheets
The program comes with a sample configuration to access a RenWeb database using SQL. The program also comes with a sample configuration and already formatted spreadsheets that allows schools to export their information into those spreadsheets either manually or automatically from your Student Information System. The spreadsheets consist of three CSV files (comma-separated text files) that can be edited by most spreadsheet software such as Excel or OpenOffice Calc.
How Bright Light File Export Sends the data
After reading you school data and entering it into a file specially formatted for FASTER, Bright Light File Export sends the file to FASTER through the Internet using FTP over SSL. FTP over SSL is a secure way sending files over the Internet.
